Our dining room table is covered with all the papers we need to send in at the moment to move our adoption process along. Right now we are renewing our visa application that will enable us to bring Pearl home - a visa we first applied for in January of 2008 and received approval for in March of that year! These expire every 18-months, so this is our second renewal. Another funny(?) part of this process is that our fingerprints expire as well, so we will need to travel to Atlanta to get new fingerprints taken to accompany this application. The mention of fingerprinting makes me a little nervous, since it was a problem in the fingerprint renewal that caused us issues in Ethiopia. We are hoping that this renewal process will take no longer than the 45-day time frame we were given by immigration.
We received a pre-approval from China last week regarding our adoption of our baby girl. This means that they have received our request and that it has been forwarded to the correct department that will make the final decision about our application. We are hoping to receive their answer within the next few weeks.
One thing that is nice is that just about everything I needed for this paper-gathering was in our files already. We have a bunch of copies of EVERYTHING - our own vital records department. I may charge myself $25 per page to surrender these.
